Using the wisdom of the integration of the mind, body and spirit for an experience of healing and growth,
I employ a mind-body holistic approach in counseling. In addition, I draw on several empirically-support treatment modalities, such as mindfulness-based psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
As a certified yoga instructor, I offer counseling incorporating yoga movements that are designed to relieve depressed mood, calm the anxious mind, and dissolve physical tension. In addition, I utilize trauma-sensitive yoga moving beyond traditional talk-therapies that focus on the mind, by bringing the body actively into the healing process. This allows trauma survivors to cultivate a more positive relationship with their body through gentle breath, mindfulness, and movement practices. My goal is to provide concrete, effective tools and skills for a client to connect with their inner wisdom and to cultivate personal growth and healing.
I am fluent in both Chinese and English. My style is interactive, direct, warm and collaborative. I enjoy working with culturally diverse people suffering from a wide variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma/abuse, eating disorders, grief and loss, cultural and sexual identity issues, acculturation and immigration, adjustment to changes, and relationship issues.
